Yggdrasil Gaming names a new CEO – James Curwen, who takes the helm of the game provider from Björn Krantz on the 1st of October.
Curwen is the current chief online officer at Greek gaming operator OPAP. Before that, he used to work as chief product officer and director of gaming at William Hill, as well as chief gaming officer at Superbet. In addition, Curwen is known as the founder of slot developer Golden Rock Studios.
“The Board is thrilled to announce that James Curwen has agreed to join us as the new CEO of Yggdrasil,” Yggdrasil Chairman Itai Frieberger says. “We believe he possesses the skills and experience to elevate the business to new heights. On behalf of the Board, I want to express our gratitude to Bjorn for his hard work and dedication over the last four years at Yggdrasil.”
What Next for Krantz?
Meanwhile, Krantz plans to remain active at Yggdrasil until the end of September, which is when he hands over the CEO position before departing from the company.
Krantz joined the company back in January 2020 as division head of publishing, and took the CEO role in April 2022. This was when founder Fredrik Elmqvist decided to end his decade-long tenure as CEO.
“Since day one, my work with Yggdrasil has been focused on transformation, and as the company now enters the next phase of its global developments, it’s time for me to hand over the reins,” Krantz remarks. “James Curwen is an industry veteran; he will bring invaluable experience and leadership to the company as it enters the next phase of driving sustainable, profitable growth. It’s his time to lead.”
